Yankees Win
Baseball | Thursday 5 November 2009 by Richard Blayney
The New York Yankees won the first World Series of the decade and at the time probably didn’t think they would have to wait until the last championship series of the decade to win another. But they did and now they have won it, their 27th World Championship and their first in their first year at the new Yankee Stadium which just moments ago exploded with cheers as they got the final out against the Philadelphia Phillies.
The Yankees are deserving champions, they have been the best team in the game all year long and while they have the biggest payroll by a mile, they have proved in previous years that in Baseball that doesn’t often mean too much when it comes to getting it done in the post-season. This time though they put the pressure on them to the side and even Alex Rodriguez, famous for going missing in the post-seasons, came up with the goods as they took the Championship.
I’ll have more on this tomorrow…
