Flyers in a hole, Washington look to tie things up at MSG

Philadelphia Flyers, Tales from the 2009 Playoffs | Wednesday 22 April 2009 by Richard Blayney

Just about to sit down and watch game four between the Washington Capitals and New York Rangers as the Caps and Ovechkin look to level the series. They are in a similar boat as the Flyers were last night heading into their game four just the Flyers actually had the home ice. No matter what they threw at the Pittsburgh net though the couldn’t solve Marc-Andre Fleury in the Penguins game. I said it last night while watching the game that I have never seen such a one sided performance in which the team on top came out losing. Fleury put in one of the best performances by a goalie in the playoffs that I have seen in quite some time. By the time the Flyers found a way through, it was to late.

Now, normally you would write off the Flyers chances of coming back. They are 3-1 down, Pittsburgh need just one more win and they have two of the potential next three games at home. This is done like dinner, right? Well I am still not convinced and I still believe. Is that my misguided support of my team? Maybe. But I have watched all four games so far and baring game one in which the Flyers were atrocious, they have actually been the better team throughout the series. A bounce or two and a few goals past Fleury and there is no reason they cannot find a way back into the series.

Anyway, the Capitals/Rangers game has started at a roaring pace and I’m off to watch it.
