Liverpool can complete the weekend

Football | Sunday 21 December 2008 by Richard Blayney

Right now everything has been going pretty well so far this weekend, mainly in sport but also personally, and if Liverpool can get the job done tomorrow I can head off on the Christmas holidays in a pretty dam good mood. My favourite teams in various sports have all grabbed wins, so it is now up to the Pool. Read More»

Not quite perfect

Football | Sunday 21 December 2008 by Richard Blayney

So the weekend in sport wasn’t quite perfect for all my teams. Liverpool came up a little short today in a 1-1 draw with Arsenal. It keeps them top of the league but if Chelsea win tomorrow against Everton then we’ll slip to 2nd for Christmas so we’ll need our city rivals to do us a favour. The game wasn’t a bad one, it was quite physical and seen Arsenal reduced to ten men, but it seemed to help Arsenal for the rest of the game. A draw was a fair result but leaves Liverpool fans again saying “what if” as Liverpool have now drawn four of their last five games.

‘Atta Boy Chris Hoy

Cycling | Sunday 14 December 2008 by Richard Blayney

Representing the fine minority sport that is Cycling, Chris Hoy won the Sports Personality of the Year award tonight. 4 of the 10 on the shortlist were cyclists and they didn’t half do the sport proud over the summer Olympics and on the night. Any one of the four could have won but Chris really was the deserving winner. Three gold medals in one Olympics is quite the achievement and I wouldn’t rule out more in 2012 in London. The year of 2008 in British Sport really was a golden one for Cycling and hopefully this puts it on the map.
