So I got up bright and early yesterday morning at 10.15 a.m. to laze in front of the T.V. watching the mornings Premier League games with an afternoon plan of heading down into Toronto on the subway and watching some six-nations Rugby, or the Ireland v Wales game to be exact. I was a little late setting off but I arrived downtown about 15-minutes after the game had started, walked into the pub I knew to be showing the game and got a big hand in my face with a voice saying, “Sorry, full house, we’re sold out”. Upon finding out there was another bar showing the game also just a few subway stops away I quickly made my way down. Same thing though upon walking inside, “No more room in here, you can’t come in”. I walked away annoyed that I was going to miss Ireland winning the six-nations, the grand slam and the triple crown, which in the end is what happened.

So the six nations will be over next weekend and this if the first time I have posted about it. The reason why is pretty much the fact I have been in a land were the tournament gets little to no coverage. At least not mainstream media or on mainstream sports channels. Unless you subscribe to the Setanta Sports Canada TV station you are out of luck and have to rely on British based websites. That is what I have been doing but I haven’t seen enough or read enough to warrant writing about as much as I have been cheering on Ireland.
I am not a Rugby man to the core. Football was my sport of choice when it seemed that every one chose one or the other. I do enjoy watching it though, especially during World Cups or during the six-nations. I have never actually been to a live game however. The best place to watch a good Rugby game — aside from being at the game — is in a pub with rugby fans. Internationals bring out the best in people and the atmosphere is always great.
