Last night the New York Yankees took a commanding 3-1 series lead over Philadelphia and are now just one win away from winning it all. I felt the series would go seven games but now I am not so sure. Philadelphia might be good for one more win but not three of the next four considering they have still to go back to New York potentially.
New York have been the best team in Baseball this year and while their mega millions might have contributed to it, they would still make deserving champions if they get one more victory.

By the time I go to the stadium there was a solid crowd mingling outside. The attendances for Jays games of late had been poor given their fine form on the field. The stadium had been half empty and I couldn’t work out what it was going to take for fans to fill up the place on the back of the team being a-top of the American League. Turns out it takes the New York Yankees and primarily A.J. Burnett.
By the time I took to my seat it was a good twenty minutes before the first pitch and the stadium had at best 8,000 people inside. Given the arena holds about 48,000 for ball games and you could understand why I was beginning to worry that nobody was going to show up for the showdown of the season. The surging Blue Jays and the best pitcher in Baseball Roy Halladay up against the struggling Yankees and their newly aquired pitcher A.J. Burnett. Yep, Burnett had joined the Yankees from the Jays in the off-season as a free agent. Burnett had chosen the big time money to go to New York instead of returning to the Jays to help move them forward following a poor season in 2008 but a good season for A.J.
