Jays lose one time all-star for nothing

A few years ago Alex Rios was seen as the next superstar in the Blue Jays batting order. He was putting up fine numbers for a young man, he was selected to the all-star game and things seemed to be going in the right direction for both player and club. Then Rios negotiated a nice new contract which would pay him huge money over many years and at the time it looked like the Jays had locked up a key piece of their future. But for Rios, like with many players when they get the big money, the foot came off the gas offensively, the numbers plummeted and so to did the Jays. Things fell so drastically that the Jays were willing to let Rios go to another team for nothing in return, but just to get his wages off the books. Read More»
